Description

Indulge in a moist chocolate cake layered with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, topped with a decadent chocolate shell.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 chocolate cake mix
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Dark chocolate for shell (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the chocolate cake mix box. Prepare two round cake pans by greasing and flouring them generously.
  2. Combine in a large mixing bowl the chocolate cake mix, cocoa powder, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Use an electric mixer for a smooth batter. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  3. Bake the cakes according to the package instructions or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then gently turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  4. Whip the heavy cream in a separate bowl. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until soft peaks form.
  5. Place one layer on a serving platter. Spread a generous layer of whipped cream over it, followed by a luscious layer of sliced strawberries. Carefully add the second cake layer on top.
  6. Cover the top and sides of the cake with the remaining whipped cream, creating a smooth finish. For an extra touch, melt dark chocolate and pour it over the top for a stunning chocolate shell.
  7. Garnish the cake with additional strawberries, then slice and serve.

Notes

Make ahead by baking the cakes a day in advance, or use an air fryer for a quicker option. Experiment with different fruits or flavored whipped cream for variation.
