- 3 ripe tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 lime, juiced
- Salt to taste
- Jalapeño (optional), finely chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the produce. Wash your tomatoes and cilantro thoroughly. Dice the tomatoes into roughly 1/4- to 1/2-inch pieces; finely chop the onion; and mince the jalapeño if using.
- Combine tomatoes, onion, and cilantro in a medium mixing bowl. Gently fold to keep textures distinct.
- Squeeze the lime over and season with salt. Taste and adjust the seasoning.
- If desired, fold in finely chopped jalapeño. Let the salsa sit for 5–10 minutes before serving.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for grilled meats, tacos, etc.
Notes
Letting the salsa rest allows flavors to meld, but serve within 24 hours to avoid excess liquid.
