Description

Delightful, soft, and chewy sugar cookie bars topped with cream cheese frosting and colorful sprinkles, perfect for 4th of July celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup patriotic sprinkles
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter, softened
  • 3 tbsp cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • Extra red, white, and blue sprinkles for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3–4 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Whisk the flour and baking powder together in a separate bowl.
  5. Combine the dry and wet mixtures until just combined.
  6. Fold in the patriotic sprinkles using a rubber spatula.
  7. Spread the dough into the prepared baking pan and bake for 20–22 minutes.
  8. Cool completely in the pan before preparing the frosting.
  9. Beat together the powdered sugar, softened butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  10. Frost the cooled cookie bars and add extra sprinkles on top.
  11. Slice into squares and serve.

Notes

These bars can be made ahead and store well. Avoid overmixing the dough for best texture.
