Description
Delicious and refreshing Orange Bars with a buttery crust and zesty filling, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup fresh orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
- Combine the flour and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Use a pastry cutter or fork to cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the crumbly mixture into the bottom of your prepared baking dish, forming an even layer. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is lightly golden.
- While the crust bakes, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, fresh orange juice, orange zest, and baking powder in another bowl to create the filling.
- Pour the vibrant orange filling over the cooked crust, ensuring it spreads evenly.
- Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the filling appears set.
- Cool in the pan completely before cutting into squares. Dust each bar with powdered sugar just before serving.
