Description
A flavorful stir-fry of ground beef and cabbage with savory soy sauce and aromatic herbs, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound Ground Beef (90% lean preferred)
- 4 cups Green Cabbage (shredded)
- 1 medium Onion (diced)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup Soy Sauce (or Coconut Aminos)
- 2 tablespoons Sesame Oil (or olive oil)
- 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger (or fresh ginger)
- 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
- Salt and Black Pepper (to taste)
- 2 tablespoons Green Onions (chopped)
- 1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté the aromatics: Heat your skillet or wok over medium heat and add the sesame oil. Toss in the chopped onions and let them cook for about 3 minutes until they turn translucent. Add minced garlic and ground ginger, stirring until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Brown the ground beef: Increase the heat to medium-high and add ground beef to the pan. Use your spatula to break it up, cooking until it browns evenly, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if you’re craving a bit of heat.
- Add the vegetables: Once the beef is cooked, add shredded cabbage to the skillet. Stir gently, allowing the cabbage to wilt but retain some crunch, which should take about 3-4 minutes.
- Pour in the sauces: Add the soy sauce and rice vinegar. Stir well to coat everything, allowing the ingredients to absorb the flavors as they meld together over low heat for another 2-3 minutes.
- Finish and garnish: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds on top before serving.
Notes
If making ahead, store the beef and cabbage mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Optional ingredients can be adjusted for individual tastes.
