  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 large egg yolks

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for meringue)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, egg yolks, key lime juice, and salt in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. Pour the mixture into the pre-baked pie crust.
  4. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the filling sets.
  5. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
  6. Beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  7. Gradually add 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  8. Spread the meringue over the cooled pie, ensuring it touches the edges.
