Description
This homemade white bread radiates comfort and warmth, perfect for sandwiches or enjoying on its own.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups warm water (95-110°F)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1½ tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup avocado oil or room temperature butter
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 8½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions
- Grease your pans: Generously butter three 8.5” x 4.5” bread pans.
- Activate the yeast: In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Combine wet ingredients: Add oil, salt, eggs, and half of the flour to the yeast mixture and mix.
- Incorporate remaining flour: Gradually add flour, mixing until smooth and elastic.
- Let it rise: Cover the bowl and let the dough rise until doubled, about 30-45 minutes.
- Shape the loaves: Punch down, divide dough, roll into rectangles, and place in pans.
- Brush with egg wash: Whisk together egg and water, brush over loaves, and let rise again.
- Bake to perfection: Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 28-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Finishing touch: Brush with melted butter post-baking and cool before slicing.
Notes
Ensure your water is at the right temperature to awaken the yeast. Allow dough to rise adequately for light and airy bread.
