Description

This homemade white bread radiates comfort and warmth, perfect for sandwiches or enjoying on its own.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups warm water (95-110°F)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1½ tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup avocado oil or room temperature butter
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 8½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Grease your pans: Generously butter three 8.5” x 4.5” bread pans.
  2. Activate the yeast: In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: Add oil, salt, eggs, and half of the flour to the yeast mixture and mix.
  4. Incorporate remaining flour: Gradually add flour, mixing until smooth and elastic.
  5. Let it rise: Cover the bowl and let the dough rise until doubled, about 30-45 minutes.
  6. Shape the loaves: Punch down, divide dough, roll into rectangles, and place in pans.
  7. Brush with egg wash: Whisk together egg and water, brush over loaves, and let rise again.
  8. Bake to perfection: Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 28-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Finishing touch: Brush with melted butter post-baking and cool before slicing.

Notes

Ensure your water is at the right temperature to awaken the yeast. Allow dough to rise adequately for light and airy bread.
