Description

A cozy casserole filled with layers of tender potatoes, savory ground beef, creamy mushroom soup, and melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil (for cooking)
  • Optional: vegetables like green beans or corn

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drizzle olive oil into a large skillet and add the diced onion. Sauté until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, seasoning generously with salt and pepper. Cook until fully browned.
  4. Grease your baking dish, then layer the sliced potatoes evenly across the bottom.
  5. Spoon the ground beef mixture over the potatoes.
  6. Top with cream of mushroom soup, spreading it to cover the beef mixture.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the top.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the oven for about 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes to achieve a golden-brown cheese crust.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding chopped bell peppers or using ground turkey instead of beef.
