Description
A comforting blend of tender meat, zesty tomatoes, and perfectly cooked macaroni, goulash is a warm, satisfying dish perfect for family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Brown the Beef: Start by heating your large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it turns a rich brown, breaking it apart with your wooden spoon. Drain any excess fat.
- Sauté the Veggies: Toss in the chopped onion, minced garlic, and bell pepper. Cook until they soften, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the Tomato Goodness: Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. The mixture should sizzle delightfully.
- Bring to a Boil: Increase the heat until the mixture reaches a gentle boil.
- Add the Elbow Macaroni: Stir in the elbows, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer.
- Cook to Perfection: Simmer for about 15-20 minutes, checking occasionally and stirring.
- Serve with Joy: Ladle the goulash into bowls and top with grated cheese if desired.
Notes
Goulash tastes even better the next day. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
