Description

A delightful Russian dessert with layers of moist cake, whipped cream, and a hint of honey, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup crushed walnuts or almonds (optional)
  • Vanilla extract to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your round cake pans to prevent sticking.
  2. Beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the honey and softened butter, mixing well.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in another bowl.
  5. Fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pans, tapping to eliminate air bubbles.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool the cakes completely in their pans before removing.
  9. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and add vanilla extract if desired.
  10. Layer the whipped cream between each cake layer, adding nuts if using.
  11. Garnish the top with extra whipped cream or nuts and refrigerate before serving.
