- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- Chocolate shavings (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the pie crust according to recipe instructions until golden brown. Allow to cool completely.
- Melt the chocolate and butter over low heat in a medium saucepan, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Beat the eggs and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl using an electric mixer on high speed for about 5 minutes until thick and pale.
- Combine the cooled chocolate mixture into the egg mixture while mixing on low speed. Add vanilla and mix until just combined.
- Fill the cooled pie crust with the chocolate filling and refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.
- Whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Top the pie with whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings, if desired.
