Description

Light and fluffy vanilla French beignets, dusted with powdered sugar, are the perfect indulgent treat for brunch or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until smooth.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined; lumps are okay.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Remove the beignets with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar while still warm and enjoy!

Notes

For a lighter version, consider using an air fryer. Dust with powdered sugar immediately after frying for optimal sweetness.
