Description

Delicious Salisbury Steak Meatballs velvety gravy served over creamy garlic herb mashed potatoes, perfect for comfort food lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme. Mix until just combined.
  3. Scoop out small portions of the meat mixture, shaping them into 1-inch meatballs. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent.
  5. Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bringing to a simmer. Slowly whisk in the cornstarch slurry, allowing the gravy to thicken. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. In a separate pot, place chopped potatoes and minced garlic. Cover with water and boil until fork-tender, 15-20 minutes.
  7. Drain potatoes and garlic, return to the pot. Add milk, butter, salt, black pepper, and fresh parsley. Mash until smooth.
  8. Add the cooked meatballs into the skillet with gravy, gently tossing to coat.
  9. Serve with a scoop of garlic herb mashed potatoes and extra gravy on top.

Notes

Meatballs can be made a day in advance and refrigerated. For gluten-free options, substitute with gluten-free breadcrumbs.
