- 1 large Onion, chopped
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 1 pound Italian Sausage
- 28 ounces Crushed Tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
- 1 teaspoon Sugar (optional)
- 2 teaspoons Dried Basil
- 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Pepper
- 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese
- 1 cup Sour Cream
- 1 large Egg
- 1 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup Chopped Parsley
- 12 ounces Lasagna Noodles
- 4 cups Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons Butter
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté onions for 5 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Brown ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking it with a wooden spoon until fully cooked.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and sugar. Add dried basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, sour cream, egg, Parmesan, and chopped parsley. Stir until well blended.
- Boil lasagna noodles according to package directions until al dente, then drain and let cool slightly.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Start layering by spreading a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, followed by noodles, cheese mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat until ingredients are used, finishing with noodles and meat sauce topped with mozzarella.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover, dot with butter, and bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden brown.
- Let the lasagna rest for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Make-ahead by assembling a day in advance and refrigerating. Use different cheeses or add veggies to customize.
