Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour and salt.
  3. Combine mixtures: Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  6. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to preheat at 450°F (230°C).
