Description

Indulge in a rich dessert that combines the gooey flavors of cinnamon rolls with a buttery cake base, topped with a creamy frosting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened for frosting
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together ½ cup softened butter and ½ cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, blend until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, and ¼ teaspoon salt.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mix, alternating with ¼ cup milk, stirring gently until combined.
  6. Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together ½ cup packed brown sugar and 2 tablespoons cinnamon, drizzle in ¼ cup melted butter, stirring to combine.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon mixture over the base batter, then spread the remaining batter on top. Swirl gently using a knife.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Cool on a wire rack.
  11. For frosting, beat together 4 ounces softened cream cheese and ¼ cup softened butter until smooth, then add 1½ cups powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, mixing until creamy. Add milk until a spreadable consistency is reached.
  12. Frost cooled bars, slice into squares, and serve.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the bars sit overnight; they taste even better the next day. Customize with nuts or chocolate chips for added texture.
