Description

Deliciously sweet and tart Christmas Cherry Bars with a buttery base and vibrant cherry filling, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 ounces)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for optional glaze)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for optional glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for optional glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour and salt in a separate bowl, then gradually add it to the butter mixture.
  5. Spread 3 cups of the batter in the bottom of the prepared pan.
  6. Layer the cherry pie filling over the batter.
  7. Drop small clumps of the remaining batter over the cherry layer.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  10. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to prepare the optional glaze, then drizzle over the cooled bars.
  11. Slice into squares and enjoy!
