Description

A flavorful stir-fry featuring ground beef and crisp green cabbage, all enveloped in a savory, umami-rich sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 small head green cabbage (about 1.5 lb)
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch piece fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 medium carrot, julienned (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar or sweetener of choice (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sriracha (if using), white pepper, and sugar. Set aside.
  2. In a large wok or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the lean ground beef to the hot wok, breaking it apart with a spatula and cooking for about 4-5 minutes until browned.
  4. Toss in the minced garlic, grated ginger, and the white portions of the sliced green onions. Stir-fry for about one minute.
  5. Add the sliced cabbage and julienned carrot into the pan and stir-fry for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and cabbage mixture, tossing to coat. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  7. Remove the wok from heat and sprinkle the remaining green onion tops before serving.

Notes

Feel free to customize with other vegetables or proteins. Make the sauce ahead of time for quicker prep.
