Description

A comforting and vibrant dish featuring broccoli in a rich garlic sauce, complemented by crispy bacon.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into small florets
  • 2 strips bacon, cut into small pieces
  • 45 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil
  • Pinch of salt for boiling water
  • Splash of olive oil for boiling water (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Blanch the broccoli for 3-5 minutes until tender.
  3. Cook the bacon in a frying pan until crisp and golden brown.
  4. Remove the bacon and drain excess fat.
  5. Sauté the garlic in the remaining oil until fragrant and golden.
  6. Make the sauce by whisking soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and water.
  7. Pour the sauce into the pan and stir until thickened.
  8. Combine the broccoli and bacon with the sauce, tossing to coat.
  9. Serve immediately for best flavor.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: blanch broccoli in advance and store it. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice can enhance the flavor.
