Ingredients

- 1 head broccoli, cut into small florets
- 2 strips bacon, cut into small pieces
- 4–5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil
- Pinch of salt for boiling water
- Splash of olive oil for boiling water (optional)
Instructions
- Bring water to a boil in a large pot.
- Blanch the broccoli for 3-5 minutes until tender.
- Cook the bacon in a frying pan until crisp and golden brown.
- Remove the bacon and drain excess fat.
- Sauté the garlic in the remaining oil until fragrant and golden.
- Make the sauce by whisking soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and water.
- Pour the sauce into the pan and stir until thickened.
- Combine the broccoli and bacon with the sauce, tossing to coat.
- Serve immediately for best flavor.
Notes
Make-ahead tips: blanch broccoli in advance and store it. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice can enhance the flavor.
